The Blue Mountains.........

These mountains get their name from the oil which emanates from the eucalyptus forests casting a blue haze over everything. This is a not very good picture of it together with the famous Three Sisters rock at Katoomba. Again we hiked and walked until our legs almost dropped off. We then took the Bell higway towards the wine growing Hunter Valley which although it had hundreds of wineries did not come close to our own wonderful valley in presentation and beauty. We did see many famous wine makers ivineyards but they need help with the promotion side I think.

While looking over the Blue mountains at the huge forests and interesting craggy rocks I kept hearing a tinkling sound as if there were cattle down below. Later I realised that this was the sound of the famous Bell birds and their distinctive call. The birders among you will know their proper names but I thought it was a kind of Wynah bird. A pretty and charming sound amidst the trees and haze.
