How could I forget?

Sydney. We were there before Canberra. We walked and walked....for 11 hours..... around this lovely, interesting and varied city. We stopped in the evening for a wonderful concert in the Opera House listening to a first time performance of 'The Compass' a work by the resident composer Liza Lim. It included a flautist and a Didgeridoo player as well as 4 percussionists and two grand pianos with one set of duo pianaists. The strings of the second piano were played by the percussionists with cat gut (or was it fishing line). As you can imagine it was a cacophony of sound but interesting and quite entertaining. Fun in fact.

What I didn't realise about the opera house was that it is made of cream coloured tiles - see above. I had stupidly always thought from the photos that it was white alabaster of some kind. Bit of a shock for me to see it in tile.

Sydney is certainly worth visiting.
