House of Commons .....or rather Representatives

the parliament moved to Canberra from melbourne in 1901 and continues its british heritage but alters it with American aspects too. The colours of the House of Representatives are taken from the environment for the green chamber - eucalyptus green in fact. All leather with matching Obus Forme back supports if needed!
The Prime Minister and Opposition leader sit opposite each other at the middle table in front of their caucases. Approximately 150 MPs in the House but 2000 clocks in the building to make sure that they all get to the House on time when they need to!!! Many other differences from us too. of the 29 Ministers only 5 are women but women obtaianed the vote in 1902 - way ahead of us you will note.
