Local traders
This is the Pointer Broom Lady. She comes along regularly selling pointer brooms which the local people use for sweeping. They are the spines of stripped coconut tree leaves tied to gether in a bunsh at the top.She is carrying several on her head. We have also seen a young boy, perhaps her son and a man, perhaps her husband helping with her sales. Reminds me a bit of Africa. ...or Victorian England as she has the loveliest, and loud, call as she walks down the street.
We now have a local paper man too who you can hear in the morning cycling up and down the streets. Once you hear him you have to be quick to grab your change and rush down for the daily news.
....and here is a guy selling fruit, warrau (I think that is how you spell it). ....a small fruit with a large pip and they saw a sweet soft flesh but the ones we tried (not these ones) were a bit difficult to eat and the flesh was quite floury. However we tried them at least......
...and of course the peanut seller who has bags of varying sizes for 60 or 80 or 100 Guyana dollars.
