Back to work

As you see my office looks a little different from the first time I showed it to you, now somewhat messier but I do have a computer that is working and I have on the wall the outcome of a meeting with the rehab professionals which helped me determine with which model they want to move forward.
I have almost completed the report but have had to redo it as the first run through was not quite what they wanted. To be honest I am not sure what is wanted as it seems to be a moving target. The conditions under which you have to work in a developing or underdeveloped country are difficult to say the least, quite apart from the hot and humid weather, the lack of decent equipment, perhaps the most frustrating is not really having the time (three months) to understand the culture properly. It seemed easier in Africa where we had 2 years. Here they do speak English but I sometimes wonder if I have really understood what they mean by what they say. It would be so easy just to go blithely on doing my own thing but I am not sure that would work in the long run or be of much use to them. I often feel that I can't get my head clear enough to 'see' things straight. However I plod on and am rewriting the report into a working document on how to set up a degree programme as opposed to the Needs Analysis I thought I had to do. I'll keep you posted as to how I get on. I am making progress - I think.
