Adventure trip
The trip home was as interesting and exciting as the holiday itself. In fact it was part of the adventure I guess. he journey was complicated by the fact that a lot of rain had fallen n the road since we last passed over it and here you see the results. This is a huge four wheel old army truck stuck on the hill up to its axles in mud. Our bus managed to get up, with difficulty, once this truck had been got out of the way. I was surprised I must say. I thought we were stuck there for a while. Having got over this hurdle just around the corner another waited for us. Two huge interlocked trees about 30 - 40 metres in length had fallen across the road and some cars had gone around them making a very slippery and dangerous situation.
Our driver and helpers, and those of the bus coming the other way, got out their chain saws, which we realised they carry with them (as well as the fishing rods it seems) and started the process of delimbing the trees and clearing the branches. It was quite an exercise and took some time. Some of us helped to clear things away and eventually we were able to get passed the now shortened trees (greenheart and curry trees - very hard wood to cut) and with no further excitement wend our way back to Georgetown.
End of a great Christmas vacation
