Shades of Princess Di

Steve Irwin's death at The Great Barrier Reef hit Australians hard even though they were not that appreciative of him until he had 'made it' in America. However the Australia Zoo was on our circuit through the Valley and we stopped to see it.
Although it was pouring with rain when I took this picture there were many many people, from older couples to young children and every one in between, arriving and laying flowers and wreaths and projects and collages and poems of rememberance in front of the entrance. It reminded me of the outpouring of shock and grief over Princess Diana's sudden death. The whole front area of the zoo was covered with the tributes. You couldn't miss it as you drove by. As well the media were camped out there and as you see many Canadians sent their own wishes. We noted these from PEI and Alberta.
