Tjapukai........

How I love watching and trying to understand other cultures. This Aboriginal Village although touristy is really well done and one of the few places where you can see and talk to Aboriginal people. We learned a lot and the picture above is part of the dancing and singing display. We also learned how to throw a boomerang, and tried it - I was useless at it - plus we tried throwing the spear with its special harness and also learned about the wide array of natural seeds, leaves and trees that they use as food and medicines. As always people with skill make things look so easy......but it's not, as I learned. Interesting day.

From here we caught the Skytrain up high to Red Peak where we hiked in the Jungle to Barrons Falls where a huge deluge of cafe au lait coloured water was hurtling down and then went up even higher to the touristy town of Karanda for more walks and a good cup of coffee before taking the Scenic train down to Cairns again.

Although a touristy day it was instructive and entertaining......and oh so beautiful up above the clouds looking down into the rainforest valley with its huge growth and out to the Tasman Sea.
