Cuenca

So from Lima with its huge variety of life we went to visit a suburb called Mira Flores - it was just like Toronto. Couldn“t believe it All the same shops and ads, wide streets, clean stores devoid of South American culture. Felt strange. Also saw some more interesting ruins at Pachacamac. Really worth it and we wandered there for a few hours admiring the skill of the Incas and their ability to build such vast structures all without mortar.

From Lima to Trujillo by bus along the coast. Trujillo just blew us away when we visited the outskirts and the Sun and Moon temples and Chan Chan ruins - pre Inca. Some of the discoveries are as recent as 6 months ago and the archeological work continues today. The colours of the tiles and wall drawings arejust amazing, they have been so well preserved having been covered by layers of adobe and sand.

Now we are in Cuenca after a hair raising experience with scoundrels at the border between Peru and Ecuador. As they drove us through the back streets of the border markets I wondered if I would see the end of the day alive!!!!!!

Now at last I feel we are on our way home.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
