Cricket

Well the World Cup of Cricket is just about over – one more game in Guyana. Mick has managed to get to three games and has really enjoyed getting up to speed with cricket again. Here we are at the big game where unfortunately we saw Sri Lanka wipe the floor with the West Indies.
The atmosphere was great though and the crowds good fun.
Before the game started there was a short shower and as you see we had come prepared.

We sat on the mound in the cheap seats and picnicked and chatted and cheered.

The organization was great and the security tight. I was really impressed with the efficiency of the whole affair from the shuttle buses from town out to the Stadium, to the orderliness of the 12000 plus crowds - Many of whom had made clothing with the Guyana flag colours, as you see.

The only criticism I guess is that for a hot country there really is not enough shade even in the expensive stands but umbrellas work for sun and rain here, plus I had this neat sun hat - so we were fine.

It folds up flat so is easy to carry.

It was disappointing to see the home team get trounced by the Sri Lankans (blue) but they did deserve their win and played a neat tight strategic game.

By contrast the Windies (in maroon) looked a bit lacklustre.
