Sugar

With all the sugar cane here it is no surprise that Guyana is famous for its Rum especially this 5 year old Eldorado

Although I had never drank Rum before I must say that it makes a nice cool drink here in the evenings and is pretty cheap when compared to other offerings .

I'm sure most of you know that Demerara sugar got it names from here as it grows along the Demarara river and Thursday if I am lucky I will get to go to the Guysuco sugar factory to see how they make it. Now of course with the crunch in market forces and the deterioration of sugar prices they are looking for new ways to keep the investment going and the latest believe it or not is a fuel. I can't help feeling that it might gum up the works but I am assured that it will not and that it is more economical than corn fuel.
