Marudi Creek

These are a few pictures of our 'day away' at Marudi Creek. There are several of these mini resorts on the Linden Road. We chose one that was about 15 minutes inland to get away from the traffic noises. We were dropped on the main road and walked along the sandy strip to Marudi Creek where we found a series of Benabs (little rustic shelters of palm leaves) where we could sit and read and keep out of the hot sun.
The water as you see is Black and it is like swimming in Coca Cola or Strong Tea! Took some nerve to get in I must say but it was gorgeous once in. We played ball and chatted and generally relaxed away from the noise and bustle of Georgetown and because we went early we were the only 6 there for several hours which was even nicer.
The bottom picture is not so happy. Being Sunday, there are few empty buses going back to Georgetown so we asked the driver of the minibus which dropped us to pick us up at 3pm. He obviously had better paying customers because he did not come and the other buses that passed us were full. In the end we decided to walk and this is a photo of my companions hoofing it along the Linden Road saying 'Forget Molley' (the name of the minibus that was supposed to collect us). By a series of lucky breaks we managed to get back to Georgetown in one piece and before night fell but sitting beside the road waiting had us wondering!
