Bartica

Decided that
we needed to get away and out of the city so we headed to Bartica down the Essequibo River by speedboat. There we stayed with a VSO, Christine, who is based there and we spent time with Carlos who you see here. He is the Assistant Manager of Operations at the Scotia Bank in Bartica and a Crossroads friend of my friend Diane, who some of you met this summer from London Ontario. He was a charming and thoughtful host and took us all over Bartica showing us interesting places to visit and stay, including the Benedictine Monastry and of course his newly finished house of which he is justly proud. He has two energetic boys who are far more interactive than most Guyanese children. They also have a lot more toys too. he obviously liked a lot of what he saw and experienced in Canada as he has adapted much f it to his own lifestyle here in Guyana.
