Uluhru ................... in the heat

Feel so lucky that we were able to get to Uluhru, Kata Tjutra and King Canyon and travel the Australian Outback with an Adventure Tour. It was fun and the group enjoyable. Here is an example of a sunrise. we got up early (4.30 am) to make sure that we were climbing in the coolest part of the day and as a consequence saw wonderful sunrises and then later sunsets. The colour as most of you know is overpowering in its redness caused by the iron seeping out of the rocks.
Had to ask and seek out information about the belief systems and culture of the Aboriginees as they are not as much in evidence as I would have thought but I have managed to glean a bit and as predicted their cutural beliefs revolve around DreamTime and a respect and wonder of the environment and animals.....much as African and First Nations beliefs have also developed. I love to hear them talk with their clapping sticks and the rolling lilt of their voices. Quite musical in fact and soft even when they speak Australian! The art work is also very colourful but all taken from nature....Quite amazing really when you see the colours that they develop.
