The Te Papa museum in Wellington is a magnificent building with enormous theatres and display halls. we saw a Constable exhibition while we were there and i didn't realise that he had made many copies of other artists' work such as Claude Lorrain and Jacob van Ruisdael from the 1600s. He admired their work and made several copies of it.
Wellington was another lovely city surrounded by water and making some innovative use of space for people to use and congregate in. We walked the city and Parliament and Civic Centre and then drove to the top of Mount Victoria which is very steep and has houses built all the way up to the top. i wondered how they could turn and park with safely and many of the carports hung ober the side of the mountain side. You would really have to park carefully not to hit the barrier and end up down the cliff. The drive around the shoreline and penisular was also sparkling and fascinating as the sun began to set. Water certainly adds to the beauty of a city.
